Conan the Cimmerian is an ongoing series on the adventures of the sword-and-sorcery character created by Robert E. Howard and published by Dark Horse Comics beginning in 2008. It continues from where the first Dark Horse series, simply entitled Conan, and that ran for 50 issues from 2004 to 2008, left off. Dark Horse in fact specifies Conan the Cimmerian #1 as "No. 51 in a Series" and so on, excluding the #0 issue special that served to introduce the new series. Conan and Conan the Cimmerian present a fresh interpretation, incorporating both new material and adaptations of stories by Robert E. Howard, with no other connection to many Marvel Comics series or other post-Howard material with the aim of revitalizing the character which has remained quite popular through the years.
Conan the Cimmerian in Dark Horse Comics' chronology marks a transition point going into the second major chapter in Conan's life, as he leaves his time as a thief and rogue behind him and heads into his mercenary and pirate years. As explained by series writer Timothy Truman,

Ancient Literary Criticism (Oxford Readings in Classical Studies)

The volume makes widely available some important scholarship on the canonical texts of ancient rhetoric and poetics. This is a magnificent DVD
This all Mozart concert was recorded live in Graz, Austria and features mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli, conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt with the Concentus Musicus Wien.
The first half of the disc features Bartoli singing some of Mozart's lesser know arias. Songs that were intended to replace arias in some of his or other opera writers works. This was sometimes done to feature a particular singer whose voice was not suited to the original work. My favorite piece by Bartoli is the lilting 3/4 time "Un moto di gioia mi I sento" ( intended to be used in "Le Nozze di Figaro")
The second half of the concert is Mozart's Symphony #38 "Prague". This, I believe, is the only DVD recording of this work and is played beautifully by the orchestra. The third movement is truly outstanding.
However, as beautiful as Bartoli sings and as expressively as Harnoncourt conducts, the truly outstanding individual talents shown on this DVD are really brought together by the director, Brian Large; his expertise has resulted in a product of superior quality . The great camera work and film editing has captured many appealing, animated moments by both performers. (especially of Harnoncourt directing the "Prague") Also, the switching of the cameras to the proper instrument is done with impeccable timing and great effect.
In addition to the DVD, there is an informative booklet that goes to some length to explain the reason some of these aria were written, and as well, gives some insight as to what was going on in Mozart's life at the time. Also, there is an extra segment on this disc which documents how much time and work was involved with setting up the lights, cameras and stage for the filming of this live recording.
The DVD has a good menu and you can select which scene you wish to watch: The only niggling complaint would be that the only subtitle language choice is that of English. I must admit, once I get familiar with a work, I like to follow it in the language it is sung in. ( in this case Italian)
All in all, a classical DVD of the highest quality. Highly recommended.

The Theatre of Death: The Ritual Management of Royal Funerals in Renaissance England, 1570-1625

This book represents the first detailed study into English royal funeral ceremonies of the period, building on earlier scholarship dealing with the French royal funeral and with the social history of death and burial in early modern England. Funeral rituals are approached as performances, and placed in their political, religious and broader cultural contexts, showing them to be a microcosm of cultural change. The impact of the Reformation, with its strong iconophobic strain, on a ritual process which was centred on the display of a life-sized image of the dead monarch, is explored. Later, the counter influence of the Arminianism and Continental art is considered in relation to the apotheosis of the theatre of death under the early Stuarts, with particular reference to the funeral of James I. Earlier individual funeral occasions are also addressed, with varied focus. The author shows how the obsequies of Elizabeth I were used to help establish the new Stuart dynasty; the sudden death of the young Henry Stuart, heir to the throne, led to a funeral quite different in atmosphere and political purpose. The death rituals of Mary, Queen of Scots (both the ceremonies staged in the wake of her execution, and the monuments and funeral performances created years later by her son, James) are analysed in depth: the emergent picture of the deliberate manipulation of the Scottish Queen's posthumous image provides a fascinating insight into the relationship between power and ritual at the renaissance court. Das Kind bewegt sich in einer Dschungeloase mit einigen Hütten und Zelten: der Laden, der Zirkus, das Lager, die Spielhölle und außerhalb des Dorfes der Pizzaservice, der Schatz in der Vulkanhöhle und selbstverständlich das Orakel auf dem Berg beim alten Tempel.
Grafisch ist alles sehr ansprechend aufbereitet und man braucht schon einen zeitgemäßen Pentium, um den vollen CD-ROM-Genuß zu bekommen.
Die CD Matheland dürfte auch Eltern überzeugen, die nicht sehr viel von Computerspielen halten. Der Schwerpunkt des Programmes liegt eindeutig bei der Wissensvermittlung und deren Einübung. Ein absolutes Plus der CD ist, daß sie dem Anwender keine starre, eintönige Spielhandlung auferlegt -- er kann jedes Mal einen neuen Weg erkunden, um an sein Ziel zu gelangen.
Also, kein Spielzeug, sondern eine sinnvolle Ergänzung zum Schulunterricht -- sogar der Schwierigkeitsgrad für den jeweiligen Schülertyp wird automatisch ermittelt, er könnte aber auch vom Lehrer per Codierung vorgegeben werden.

Mario benedetti - Inventario dos.

Mario Benedetti (born September 14, 1920) is a Uruguayan journalist, novelist, and poet. Benedetti was born in Paso de los Toros, Salibna, Uruguay. He is not well known in the English-speaking world, but in the Spanish-speaking world he is considered one of Latin America's most important living writers. In 1946 he married Lusero López Alegre.
From 1973 to 1985, when a military dictatorship ruled Uruguay, Benedetti lived in exile in Buenos Aires, Lima, Havana, and Spain. He currently divides his time between Montevideo and Madrid. He has been granted Honoris Causa doctorates by the Universidad de la República, Uruguay, the Universidad de Alicante, Spain and the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain. On June 7, 2005 he was named as the recipient of the Premio Menéndez y Pelayo.
More recently, on January 26, 2006, Mario Benedetti, joined other internationally renowned figures such as Gabriel García Márquez, Ernesto Sábato, Thiago de Mello, Eduardo Galeano, Carlos Monsiváis, Pablo Armando Fernández, Jorge Enrique Adoum, Pablo Milanés, Luis Rafael Sánchez, Mayra Montero and Ana Lydia Vega, in demanding sovereignty for Puerto Rico Congress for the Independence of Puerto Rico, which approved a resolution favoring the island-nation's right to assert its independence, as ratified unanimously by political parties from hailing from twenty two Latin American countries in November 2006; García Márquez's demand for the recognition of Puerto Rico's independence was obtained at the behest of the Puerto Rican Independence Party.

The_Dark Tower: The Sorcerer One-Shot

The Dark Tower is a 30-issue, five-arc series of comics based by Marvel Comics on Stephen King's The Dark Tower novel series. It is plotted by Robin Furth, scripted by Peter David, and illustrated by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove. King serves as Creative and Executive Director of the project.
The Dark Tower: The Sorcerer is a one-issue comic book, which serves as a prequel and spin-off of both Stephen King's The Dark Tower novels and as a spin-off story to Marvel's three previous The Dark Tower comic book limited-series. Unlike previous Dark Tower comic book series, which follow Roland Deschain and his ka-tet, Sorcerer follows the life and motives of The Dark Tower villain Marten Broadcloak. The comic was previously solicited for a March 11, 2009 release date but has since been pushed back and released April 15, 2009.

Alors qu'il voulait réconcilier le Peuple des Nains et les représentants de la Sainte Église, un boulet de canon malencontreux a envoyé notre moinillon aux côtés du Très Haut ! C'est ce que tout le monde croit, même Laïus, son fidèle compagnon, jusqu'au jour où l'Archevêque vient au monastère des Cabécoux lui apprendre l'incroyable nouvelle : Alban serait vivant et se serait réfugié en la cité d'Utopia, une incroyable citadelle qui admettrait en son sein toutes les religions, hérésies, apostasies et schismes possibles... Alors courageusement, Laïus reprend son bâton de pèlerin et se dirige vers Utopia, qu'il atteindra après de longues semaines de marche. Sitôt entré dans la cité, on lui propose de devenir tour à tour adorateur de l'Oignon, Frère du Soleil, Compagnon de Satan... Seul l'aide du Très Haut saura lui donner assez de force afin de résister à toutes ces folles tentations, car il n'a qu'un seul but : retrouver son ami Alban.

Mais voilà qu'un traqueur forcené se lance bientôt sur leurs traces et les incite à fuir… Lors de cette course folle, ils feront la connaissance d'une charmante jeune femme, une nonnette qui va rapidement les convier au sein de son monastère. Mais caser une quarantaine de loups dans un lieu dédié au recueillement risque d'être assez complexe. Sauf si ce monastère n'est finalement pas celui que l'on pourrait croire…

There is one rule in the game. And it needs to be broken. There is one goal. And when you attain it, you die.
Six sisters live in an apartment in the city. One by one their mother sends them on an errand to their grandmother, who is sick and bedridden. The teenagers are instructed to go to grandmother's house deep in the forest and, by all means, to stay on the path! Wolves are hiding in the woods, just waiting for little girls to stray.
But young women are not exactly known for their obedience, are they? Will they be able to resist the temptations of the forest? Will they stay clear of danger? Can they prevent the ancient tale from being retold?
The Path is a game about growing, about changing, about making choices, about accepting the consequences of these choices. A game about playing, and failing, about embracing life, perhaps by accepting death.
Please note that while The Path does not contain any graphic violence or sexuality, it does allude to these themes. The overall melancholy mood of the game and the potentially unsettling course of events, make The Path unsuitable for children. The game unfolds in a dystopian New York where environmental crisis has forced the population to literally inch closer to the sky through a massive network of bridges to avoid the toxicity of the surface. The violent change in society created a feverish need for laborers to assist the wealthy elites on the upper levels. A solution presented itself in the cloning of a new working class with the right qualifications -- Neanderthals. Strong enough for labor yet ultimately subservient, the Neanderthal population grew and eventually clogged the lower levels of the city where they were forced to fight in blood sports for the amusement of the wealthy.

Powered by the all-new Crytek 2 engine, M.O.B. depicts a brutal struggle between the past and future. As an elite Neanderthal fighter, Matteo, players will fight their way through a sprawling vertical world filled with frenetic shoot-outs and distinctly gruesome mayhem. With the help of a prototype biomechanical arm, players will literally tear through the environment and charge fallen debris for use as hand grenades, as well as dismember and demolish anything that stands in their way.
