Sacred Gold Edition


For those of you who may have missed it, Sacred came out last year to generally decent reviews. The game, while firmly rooted in the fantasy realm, featured a selection of six characters like the Mage, the Gladiator and the Dark Elf. Players selected a character and went forth on various missions. What made this a little different from the similar Diablo, was that the game was truly open ended. You could choose to go on one mission, or go somewhere completely different and find other missions. Sure there are lots of RPGs out there with non-linear gameplay, but this one really had that feeling of freedom that some other, ahem ... titles seemed to miss.

Gothic3

Players saved their home island Khorinis from the forces of evil in Gothic and Gothic 2. Now it is time to travel to the realms of the mainland, where invading Orcs have enslaved the human kingdom. There are only a few free humans living in the nearly uninhabitable icy northlands of Nordmar and in the southern desert of Varrant, and a handful of rebels hiding in the mountainous forests of the Middle Realm. Players can choose to join the rebellion and stay true to the deposed human king, serve the Orcish usurpers in their quest to topple the last remaining human stronghold, or choose a path that serves their own ends. Every decision made will have an impact on the game world and tip the balance of power. There is no simple linear story in Gothic 3 - every game will be different and unique, with the player ultimately deciding the fate of humankind.

Oblivion Shivering Isles

Since Knights of the Nine was a short new story set in the same region (Cyrodiil), Shivering Isles is the first real expansion for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
A new portal opens in Niben Bay, Cyrodiil, and it leads to the torn realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. In that realm exists an island that represents the madness of Sheogorath himself with its two sides Mania and Dementia.Each side is the exact duplicate of the other but with the difference that one side is pure depression and the other pure (but don't expect it being less deadlier) happiness - which also changes the look and behavior of the NPCs and monsters. But something is happening to the island and Sheogorath is looking for a champion to take care of it: you.
On the Shivering Isles you will find new many new dungeons, items, ingredients and spells which you can of course take back to Cyrodiil as well. Many new quests and questlines await the adventurer of which many rely on the different sides of the Shivering Isles. For instance, one quests requires you to kill an NPC but it is up to you if you kill the one on the Evil side or his exact counter-part on the Good side.
